Academician E.A.Buketov

On March, 23rd, 2005 Dr.Sci.Tech., the professor, the laureate of the State Award of the USSR, a member of the Union of writers of Kazakhstan, the academician of Academy of sciences of Kazakhstan Evney Arystanovich Buketov would be 80 years. In memory of scientists, workers of the Higher school, all creative intelligence academician Evney Arystanovich Buketov has left especially deep trace. With the big interest his art, critical and publicistic issues devoted to scientists of culture and art are perceived, but all the same that is made by academician Buketov in scientific and scientifically-organizational area for us represents not passing value as from the point of view of the received scientific results and experience of the big collective of scientists for the decision of large problems.

Unfortunately, science language is not so clear, as language of works of art, and the society can be ambiguous at all times therefore perceives original workings out of scientists, does not notice them, as well as we do not notice, going by the ground, that we are trampled down on gold deposits, silver, copper, other valuable metals which are connected in outwardly not so perceptible chemical compounds. E.A. Buketov was the remarkable translator from science language into popular language, a person who promoted the increase of prestige of a science and himself in this part possessed the conventional authority.

He was born on March, 23rd, 1925 in Baganaty village of nowadays Shalakinsky region the North of the Kazakhstan. Has started to study in 1932 in Chelyabinsk nowadays Kurgan) region where his father worked as the unskilled worker, having moved from native places. In 1938 parents have returned to paternal places, and Evney Buketov continued to study, but only for nine classes, because of illness of the father he had to interrupt study and to go to work. Father soon died, and only in 1945 when E.Buketov was 20 years old he managed to pass without attending lectures examinations for the school-leaving certificate and to arrive on metallurgical faculty of the Kazakh mountain-metallurgical institute which he finished 1950. Further office and scientific career of the future academician developed thus: Postgraduate study, dissertation in 1954, a post of the senior lecturer in 1956, the pro-rector on study process – in 1958, and in two years – appointment as the director of Chemistry and metallurgical institute of Academy of science of Kazakhstan in Karaganda.

Perhaps, from that period starts independent scientific and organizational work of E.A. Buketov.

Having arrived from Alma-Ata in 1960, he accepted diverse enough scientific economy which on the second year after the institute organisation included geological, mountain, metallurgical and chemical, and also economic divisions. The young 35-year-old director of young academic institute started his activity with some paradoxical decision – the organisations of one more laboratory – rare and no-ferrous metals, thereby having expanded various nomenclature of scientific specialities of the institute and at the same time having finished as in the Central Kazakhstan nonferrous metallurgy is presented by the largest complexes – Balkhash and Zhezkazgansky. Thus, regional character of institute has received full enough organizational embodiment, here again it is necessary to mention not only foresight of the young director, but also the fact, that the iron and steel industry of the Central Kazakhstan and all republic takes a predominating place in economy, defines its present and long-term future. Evney Arystanovich managed at new laboratory and at once put researches on molybdenum, tungsten, selenium and tellurium in development of the scientific interests which he had at the Kazakh mountain-metallurgical institute.

These researches quickly started ahead and per first half of sixtieth were issued in two basic themes: mine roasting of the granulated materials of nonferrous metallurgy and under the big pressure hydro chemical processes with participation of sulphur, selenium, tellurium, arsenic, so-called Chalcogens and chalcogenids. On the first theme the copyright certificate of the USSR first for institute has been received and the first introduction in manufacture is carried out in 1965: strengthening roasting of granulated Zhezkazgan concentrates in the mine with an inclined lattice. For this work E.Buketov was awarded the State award of the USSR in 1969 as the participant of the development of technology of complex processing of copper concentrates of Balkhash mountain-metallurgical complex with oxygen application at a converting stage (there and moved Zhezkazgan concentrates as “a cold additive”).

Institute conducted researches of very valuable element to rocket technics – Rhenium by which results the first foreign patents were received. Mine roasting furnaces were introduced also at Uralelektromed factory (the Top Pyshma of Sverdlovsk region), at Zhezkazgan mountain-metallurgical complex and already in the eightieth-ninetieth years – for coke drying at new-Zhambylsky phosphoric factory and at “Carbide” (Temirtau).
